So I have been sleeping less and less, and working more and more, the last few months. Sure it’s detrimental to my overall health and happiness let alone my girth but I think The Universe finally noticed.

This was the cap to one of my new favorite treats. Every week Jones Soda’s corporate office has “Free Jones Friday”. As they are only a few blocks from the office I have come to enjoy taking a walk down and partaking in a carbonated beverage. Under each cap is a different saying…usually inconsequential. Today’s saying though seemed to resonate with my being as a true message from The Universe.

It at least made me smile and give me a little more hope.

So spring came a bit early for my taste. We got flowers blooming left and right. My whole block looks like we planted pink cotton candy trees on both sides. These little tiny flowers fully opened to the sun as the temps begin to climb. I have fears that we are going to lose all our flowers and flora as temps go back down in March as they are expected to. Going to cross my fingers and hope that these little guys don’t die.

I love to draw. Always have since before I can remember. These days I have to carve out, from my wood block of life, the time to sketch the things I want to. I had stopped for quite some time. Only sketching for work projects and the like.

Then one day I was on the bus, I had left a pen in my jeans pocket(it was stabbing me in the leg and dyeing my undergarments) and I pulled it out. I had a sketchbook in my hands and I started doodling the people around me.

Since that day almost a month ago I have become a bit of an addict again. I have resumed sketching in church, on the bus, at lunch and odd hours of the day. I love it and what it does for my creativity. I once again feel like the Genius or Daemons of creative inspiration are whispering in my walls.

I love you Valentine. Won’t you be mine.

So I was sick the last bit of last week…all through today. Not happy about it. I had a good painting groove going and this illness put up a monster wall in front of that movement.

I worked on this T graphic for my buddies in La Cha-Cha while I was sick so I am not sure it’s 100% all me, I mean sudafed was a heavy influence. It’s not supposed to make you drowsy or anything but I swear I get some non-planned chemical reactions to the stuff. This illness has swept through my fam like wild fire. Took out the kid first, then the wife and then me. I thought I was a lucky one but I went down hard and fast. How it goes sometimes.

I am one of the few people still watching Heroes (something like 4 million of us now). And while I admit that it hasn’t been as good as the first year, this year wasn’t all that bad. I hope it gets renewed so that the new writers can give us that one more great season they got under their sleeves. Other shows I watch are Lost and Chuck…and yes I am a geek.

This week I am going to break down the wall and get some paintings done…really I am.

So I took a whole year off from blogging on my own site. Not sure how many people are reading now but here we go again. The site got a work-over from backend to front. Hope people dig it. I am pretty happy with how it’s turned out so far. Keep coming back as I dig through my piles of stuff for my portfolio and personal history. I’ll be updating at least once a week and hopefully more as I get going.

The man known as Draplin might be my favorite designer in the snow arena. I met him a few years ago at the SIA trade show, he had a good hand shake. His blog and his brand named pocket size notbook “Field Notes” are now used by me daily, so it was with great pleasure that I found myself linked on his blog the other day.
